Springtime in Lake Tahoe and The Mokelumne Wilderness
May 14-17, 2011
Join me and Scott Schilling for our new photo workshop based in the world-class setting of South Lake Tahoe, California. You will have an opportunity to photograph Lake Tahoe and the surrounding Mokelumne Wilderness from some of our favorite locations. You will also have an opportunity to photograph a full moonrise at sunset from Emerald Bay as well as a full moonset at dawn from another location along the northeastern shore. Lake Tahoe is truly a treasure to be discovered. It's 72-miles of shoreline offers a bevy of photographic possiblities, from its turquoise-colored coves to its rich cobalt-blue deep waters and all set against the backdrop of the majestic snow-covered Sierra peaks that make this one of the most popular photo destination areas in the country!
We will also explore the incredible beauty of the Hope Valley and Carson Pass which serve to make up a large portion of the Mokelumne Wilderness. Scott and I have scouted much of the area and have chosen our favorite locations that most photographers would never find on their own!
My workshops place a heavy emphasis on the visual side of photography with location photography being the number-one priority. I limit my groups to no more than (12) students so you will receive plenty of one-on-one attention. We spend our afternoons concentrating on various software training including Photoshop workflow to specialized techniques geared towards optimizing your landscape images along with (2) image review sessions. The Photoshop training will include: basic workflow, Levels, Curves, color correction, sharpening, adjusment layers, masks, burning and dodging techniques and RAW conversion. We will also look at software from Nik and HDR processing with Photomatix Pro.
This workshop will also include an evening of star photography where we will teach techniques on photographing star trails, pinpoint stars, and light painting!
Some of the areas we will be visiting:
* Emerald Bay
* Eagle Falls (upper and lower)
